Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World

I just picked up this book by Joanna Weaver the other day and read this quote and now I can’t get it out of my head:
“Jesus went from place of prayer to place of prayer performing miracles along the way.“
What would my life look like if I started to move about my day that way? Instead of rushing from preschool drop off to photoshoot to the grocery store, scarcely praying along the way, what if I viewed my bed, my car, my kitchen table, the rocking chair, each as a place of prayer… these little in between moments serving as anchors for my day where I meet with my Father in Heaven. How would that shape the way I show up to those other spaces, how would it change the way I set about the work that is set before me, transform the way I love those I encounter?
We are just a few weeks away from welcoming our third baby girl and it is my prayer that Jesus would redeem this part of me ~ my inner Martha that is prone to worrying and becoming overwhelmed, bitter and upset about the many tasks that need to be done. Well, Jesus never promises I won't become overwhelmed. But when I am overwhelmed, I don't have to be consumed. I don't have to respond to the stress in anger and harsh words but can take my grumbling to the Lord who cares deeply for me & promises to walk beside me and help carry my burdens. I pray I grow in presence. Both with my Savior and with my husband and children. That loving them becomes more important than washing the dishes or keeping the home. Redeem my priorities O Lord. That my family might know an imperfect mama in need of the daily grace of Jesus, but who seeks His face and is changed from the inside out because of His great love.
